چکیده

This paper considers the scheduling problem of packet transmissions in a TDM/WDM unidirectional optical ring network. Our objective is to design a scheduling scheme for packet transmission with minimum scheduling length satisfying a set of traffic requirements. We focus on a fairly general case in that non-uniform traffic demands and arbitrary transmitter tuning latencies are allowed. Since the scheduling problem in TDM/WDM ring networks is known to be NP-Complete, we formulate the problem as an Integer Linear Program (ILP) and propose some heuristic algorithms to find feasible solutions. Key–Words: Packet Scheduling, TDM, WDM, Integer Linear Program, NP-Complete

On the Design of Optimal TDM Schedules for Broadcast WDM Networks with Arbitrary Transceiver Tuning Latencies

We consider the problem of scheduling packet transmissions in a broadcast, single-hop WDM network. Tunability is provided only at one end, namely, at the transmitters. Our objective is to design schedules of minimum length to satisfy a set of traac requirements given in the form of a demand matrix. We address a fairly general version of the problem as we allow arbitrary traac demands and arbitr...

Collision-less Scheduling Algorithms with Arbitrary Transceiver Tuning Latencies in Broadcast DWDM Networks

To achieve high bandwidth in the high-speed communication network is available for fiber-optical networks. Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) increases the usage of bandwidth by partitioning the bandwidth into many, more manageable high-speed channels. Many scheduling algorithms are proposed to bring out channel reusing in a limited bandwidth to increase system performance. Unfortunately, f...

Multicast QoS traffic scheduling with arbitrary tuning latencies in single-hop WDM networks

To accommodate the demands of QoS and multicast applications, a multicast QoS traffic scheduling algorithm with tuning latency consideration in WDM star-coupled network is provided in this paper. We define the slot scanning problem in the connection setup process as the Maximum Assignable Slots (MAS) problem. We prove that the optimal solution of MAS problem can be obtained in polynomial time. ...

Optimal All-to-All Broadcast in WDM Optical Networks with Breakdown or Power-Off Transceivers

Packet scheduling provides a way to reduce routing control and guarantee overall throughput. An interesting special case of the packet scheduling is all-to-all broadcast in which every transmitter/receiver pair has exactly one packet to be transferred. Several optimal scheduling algorithms have been proposed for the all-to-all broadcast problem in Wavelength Division Multiplexed (WDM) optical s...

Performance Analysis of Broadcast WDM Networks under IP Traffic

We consider the problem of carrying IP packet traffic over a broadcast WDM network. The network operates under a schedule that masks the transceiver tuning latency. Variable length IP packets are segmented at the transmitting end, the fixed-size segments are transmitted in slots specified by the schedule and are then reassembled into the original packet at the receiving end. We develop and anal...
